University of Tartu Family Day on First Advent

The University of Tartu invites everyone with their family to the museum on the first Sunday of Advent, 27 November, at 15:00.

In the White Hall of the museum, we are opening a unique Christmas tree made of leftover materials from the museum’s exhibitions and decorated with university caps. The youngest family members can draw pictures of Tiksu, decorate gingerbread and solve puzzles in the cathedral’s Chamber of Mysteries. Adults can take a guided tour of the exhibition “Heaps of Happiness?”.

Everyone can have their photo taken together with the university mascot Tiksu.

We encourage everyone to wear their own university cap, if possible. Those who do not have one can buy it from the university gift shop.

Family Day schedule

15:00 Drawing pictures of Tiksu in the White Hall, decorating gingerbread in the Education Lab and solving puzzles in the cathedral’s Chamber of Mysteries

15:30 Lighting Tiksu’s Christmas tree and a concert by children of the Fa-diees singing studio. Listening to Tiksu’s Christmas tale

16:00 Tour of the exhibition “Heaps of Happiness? An exhibition on well-being, mental health and balance”

16:00–17:00 Activities for children continue

Entrance is free for University of Tartu staff, students, and their family members; for others with a museum ticket.

The concept for the Christmas tree was created by Maris Tuuling, an artist and the museum’s collection holder.
