University of Tartu Museum celebrates Europe Day

In 2024, it will be twenty years since the expansion of the European Union, when ten Eastern and Central European countries, including Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania, became members of the EU. The University of Tartu Museum and the Johan Skytte Institute of Political Studies will celebrate Europe Day with a topical conference. The University of Tartu Museum opens the photo exhibition ‘Inspired by Europe’ created in collaboration with the Camino project.

The ‘Our Choice and its Consequences: 20 years in the European Union’ conference will take place on 9 May, from 13:00-18:30 at the White Hall of the University of Tartu Museum.

The conference seeks answers to the following questions:

  • How has Estonia, Europe and the world around us, changed in 20 years?

  • Have we become Europeans while still remaining Estonians?

  • Can we be certain that no country is alone in this union?

  • Has the language of this land, whilst ascending to the European sky, secured eternity for itself?

  • Can what brought us here carry us forward as well?

We welcome everyone for whom European issues are important to participate. The first and third panels will be held in Estonian, the second panel will be in English (without translation). You can read about the Camino project here.
