Until mid-April, you are welcome to the ruins of Tartu Cathedral to experience a new performance installation by Maret Tamme and Joosep Susi, which invites participants on a journey through time and space. The performance provides an opportunity to pause and reflect on life more broadly, while also providing a unique meditative experience.

“To give visitors an opportunity to experience the cultural heritage of Estonians, we bring them to the sauna. It's good to be alone in here because the experience of the surrounding space and your own thoughts is cleaner, more direct. However, in the ruins of the cathedral, we take the participants on a slightly broader journey – we create dialogues between the everyday and the sacred, between the past and the present. The interaction of the two different spaces amplifies their historical significance," explained Maret Tamme.

The performance can be experienced in two ways:

· IN THE SAUNA. The performance installation takes a sole participant to a smoke sauna from Southern Estonia, offering a personal and insightful journey. The unique sound, light and room installation can only be experienced alone and the performance lasts 15 minutes. When visiting with a group, you can take turns enjoying the experience.

· IN THE RUINS. The performance installation directs up to ten people into the ruins to walk, opening up a new perspective on time and space with the help of sound and light. In the layers of Toome Hill, religious, academic and historical meanings intertwine, to which the traditional-mythical dimension of the old Southern Estonian smoke sauna is now added. The performance lasts 15 minutes and does not include entering the sauna.

The performances take place on the following dates:

· 5 March–8 March at 18:15, 18:45, 19:15, 19:45, 20:15, 20:45

· 11 March at 18:15, 18:45, 19:15, 19:45, 20:15, 20:45

· 13 March–15 March at 18:15, 18:45, 19:15, 19:45, 20:15, 20:45

· 20 March–22 March at 18:15, 18:45, 19:15, 19:45, 20:15, 20:45
