From June until the end of August, every Saturday at the Tartu Old Observatory courtyard, you can observe the star closest to us — the Sun — using a special telescope. Observations take place in clear weather from 12:00 to 14:00.
“The Sun’s activity follows 11-year cycles. Currently, the Sun is at its activity maximum, which brings more sunspots and solar flares. Due to charged particles ejected from the Sun, we can see auroras in the Earth’s atmosphere. Come by — you might even see a solar flare or sunspot with your own eyes, although we can’t promise that, because the Sun is unpredictable!” invited curator Kärt Soieva.
For information about the event, contact the observatory administrator at phone number 737 6932 starting from 10:00. Participation is free for everyone.
